First off, let's talk a little bit about the brand. Darn Tough has been run by the Cabot family for 3 generations. For close to 40 years, they've been knitting socks in the Green Mountains of Vermont, USA. Over the years, they've learnt a lot, continually developing their socks to be the most comfortable, durable and best fitting socks available in the market today.

 

So what makes a Darn Tough Sock so great?
Firstly, is the use of Merino Wool. Naturally evolved over thousands of years, Merino Wool is wildly resilient and incredibly versatile. Merino Wool is soft and comfortable, absorbs moisture before it turns into sweat on your skin, and releases it, leaving you dry. In reverse, outside moisture is captured before it touches your skin. In addition, it is thermoregulating - keeping you warm in cold conditions and cooler in warm conditions. There is a natural crimp in wool fiber that provides pockets of insulation - holding and releasing heat dependent on what the body is doing. Merino Wool is combined (in varying degrees, depending on the sock) with Nylon and Lycra. These additional yarns provide durability and also ensure a great, secure fit.

 

Secondly is the way the socks are put together. With a seamless construction, Darn Tough socks feel invisible on the foot, providing cushioning, comfort and support. Much of the manufacturing process is kept safely under wraps, but we do know all the socks are knitted on small needle, fine gauge knitting machines - resulting in high durable, high density stitching without bulk. They feature a higher thread count than we have ever come across and are incredibly comfortable because of it.

Thirdly, and perhaps most importantly is the almost endless supply of designs, colours and styles to choose from! From striped socks, to spotted socks, to socks with intricate designs on, Darn tough make some of the best looking socks around. They also make them in plenty of plain, more sublte colours if you'd like to be a bit more discreet!
